In the 3rd group (DLM-intoxicated non-treated), signs started
with darkening of the body surface, loss of scales, off food, anemia,
congested eye and anal opening. In addition, some intoxicated fish
swim in the water surface trying to gasp air or show rapid operculum
movement due to respiratory distress. Later, fish lay down in the
bottom of the aquaria and stopped movement until death. Fish
mortality from day 19 until 28 was 25% (5 out of 20 fish). The clinical
symptoms of fish exposed to DLM were observed daily compared to
the control group. The 2nd group (1 g/kg allicin supplemented diet)
did not show any mortalities 0% (0 of 20 fish) same results were seen
in the 1st; control group. The mortalities in the 4th and 5th groups
were 10% (2 out of 20) and 5% (1 out of 20), respectively and dead
fish showed the same clinical toxicity signs of DLM.
