Abstract
In this chapter we look at the characteristics of debt instruments and the associated settlement features of these products.
Instruments such as bonds and money market instruments are examined with comparison of settlement features such as interest (coupons) and accrued interest, products issued at a discount, maturity and redemption, bonds with warrants and imbedded options.
We look at the roles of parties in the issuance of debt instruments and the factors affecting settlement like confirms and instructions.
