Environmentally stimuli coil–rod–coil triblock copolymers containing a terfluorene rod and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) coil have been successfully synthesized via reversible addition fragmentation chain-transfer (RAFT) polymerization using terfluorene-based dithioester as the RAFT agent (Scheme 7(a)) [87]. In addition, triblock copolymers of poly(γ-benzyl-L-glutamate) (PBLG)-b-PF-b-PBLG were successfully prepared by the ring-opening polymerization of γ-benzyl-L-glutamate N-carboxyanhydride using the macroinitiator of benzylamine end-functionalized polyfluorene ( Scheme 7(b)) [65].
