Participants
Twenty high-performance male junior soccer players
(mean+s: age 15.9+0.6 years, body mass 71.3+
5.4 kg, sum of seven skinfolds 63.3+19.7 mm)
from the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI)
soccer squad participated in the study. Goalkeepers
were excluded from the investigation. Participants
were pair-matched according to playing position
and randomly allocated to either the cold-water
immersion or thermoneutral immersion condition.
Body mass and sum of seven skinfolds were obtained
using previously described methods (Norton et al.,
2000).
