WITH his new buff body, former X Factor contestant Carmelo Munzone has ditched his “awkward vibe” and is back with fresh music.
The Liverpool-based singer has released a new single, No Brakes, independently through Ivory Bull Publishing with the track debuting at No. 10 on the iTunes soul and R & B chart.
Munzone, 24, was known for being the “skinny-armed, quirky guy” on The X Factor in 2012 — the year won by Samantha Jade — coming into the competition as a wildcard after Josh Brooks was kicked off the show.

No Brakes was co-written with LA-based The Duelists, known for their work with the likes of Timbaland, Jessie J and Adam Levine.
Munzone will launch the single at Casablanca in Double Bay next Thursday night.
“It’s about all those obstacles that stand in your way and you’ve pretty much got to run through them to come out the other side,” Munzone explained.

Next step for Munzone is his debut album, which he has yet to come up with a name for although has a working title of Lucky 13.
“We are only about two songs off finishing the album,” he said. “There will be a lot of variety, we’ve tried to hit on a number of genres but it will be pop, soul, funk and a bit of rock even.”
Munzone has undergone a complete makeover since The X Factor, working out to buff up his body ahead of the release of No Brakes.
He lost 30kg before auditioning for The X Factor and has focused on toning his body since the show ended.
“I feel great,” he said. “The other day I actually managed to beat my trainer in a chin-up competition.
“I guess being a lot healthier these days really makes me feel more comfortable in whatever I’m wearing and when I’m performing. I don’t have that awkward vibe any more.”
