The radiographer's responsibilities in such examinations include
ensuring the radiographic exposure is adequate to allow the tube to
be visible to the bottom of the film, which should be centred lower
than normal to show the abdomen as far as possible below the
diaphragm, and to ensure the image is reviewed (reported) before
the patient is returned to the ward.6,7 Clinical staff must also have
received training on image interpretation where immediate radiology
