did not report standard
errors or confidence intervals, and attempts to contact the study
authors were unsuccessful. In meta-analysis, use of a high-carbohydrate
enteral feeding regimen was associated with a mortality
OR of 0.36 (95% CI 0.11 to 1.15, P = 0.08) (Analysis 1.1), and
a cumulative incidence of pneumonia OR of 0.12 (95% CI 0.04
to 0.39, P = 0.004) (Analysis 1.2), compared to a high-fat enteral
feeding regimen. The mortality OR did not reach statistical significance,
while the cumulative incidence of pneumonia OR did
reach statistical significance.
