The Maddhapara Hard Rock Mining Project is the first experience of Hard Rock Mining and second major mining project in Bangladesh. The rock in Maddhapara Hard Rock Mine, Bangladesh is composed of tonalite and granodiorite associated with granodioritic gneiss, granite and adamellite. Blasting and crushing the hard rocks produces heat, slurry, rock fragments and dust. About 50,000 metric tons of wastes per year were deposited during blasting and crushing. During the blasting and crushing process, the fine particles can cause more pollution than other forms of dust unless stored properly and further utilized.
