The business plan is the instrument that accomplishes three important objectives for the entrepreneur. First, it “bring it all together,” assembling all the things the new venture must accommodate if it is to grow and thrive. In this undertaking it accomplishes a second goal; it forces the entrepreneur to look at the strengths, weaknesses and shortfalls of the venture. Knowing these will allow her or him to make adjustments, to bring in new resources, new people, perhaps partners.
