3.2. Cross-reactivity analysis
The specificity of the raw pork LFD was first tested using a panel of
serumalbumins derived fromporcine and xenogenic sources. Serumalbumins
of known concentrationswere diluted in 0.9% saline solution at
10 ppm and then mixed 1 part sample and 9 parts LFD running buffer.
Thereafter, 100 μl of each sample mixture was applied to the sample
port of the housed raw pork LFD and allowed to migrate for 15 min at
which time results were read using an electronic strip reader. The results
of the serumalbumin cross-reactivity testing using pure serumalbumins
are reported in Table 5. From this analysis, the raw pork LFD
exhibited specificity for the porcine serumalbumin,with no cross-reactivity
observed for the xeno-serum albumins
