It is envisaged that the barrier can be constructed in various forms to suit the local
environment and trafficking conditions. The basic structure will be of relatively low cost and
will have applications by statutory bodies responsible for general flood risks in the UK
(Environment Agency, Local Authorities etc.) and at a domestic level for local flood risks.
The low cost of the barrier is likely to be attractive to third world developing countries so
often stricken by floods. The barrier may be designed for rapid activation in the event of a
tidal wave or tsunami, and additional anchor ties with shock absorbing systems provided to
resist the large wave forces.
