FERC, the Foundation for the Education of Rural Children (Chiang Mai, Thailand), is a nonprofit organization, registered in Thailand and the United States . Its primary objectives are:
To provide aid and support for education for children in the North of Thailand.
To promote and support organizations that make educational contributions to the rural Thai and tribal communities.
To provide access to education through scholarships.
FERC’s main activities are dedicated to fund-raising and managing an active and growing scholarship program for children from pre-school through high school. FERC does not manage schools or other projects.
WHY SUPPORT FERC ?
Education is our primary objective. We either sponsor students directly through our Scholarship Program, or we facilitate educational activities with essential supplies and equipment such as library materials, water purification systems, playgrounds and classroom supplies.
Experience is combined with the personal knowledge and professional skills of its Board members.
Low overhead costs are achieved by volunteer Board members who do not receive any payment for their services, and by eliminating unnecessary intermediaries.
We concentrate our activities on the North of Thailand, an area where education of children is one of the most effective tools in the fight against drugs, child exploitation and human trafficking.
Ethnic, political or religious backgrounds do not play a role in our choices of educational activities.
Donations to FERC, made in the USA through our affiliative agreement with Give2Asia, are tax deductible.
