The aim of the research is to study the impact of music on vocabulary memory of preschool student. Twenty children of 5-6.5 year age participated in this experiment. They were divided into experimental group and control group consisted of ten children respectively. They have never taken any English course and spoken English before . English children songs were used in this experiment because their lyric and musical characteristics were intertwined closely lending themselves to vocabulary memory. A pretest and post-test using WISC were administered to these groups, showing that the intelligence of the two groups did not show any difference. The present result on vocabulary memory data. Computer statistics showed that the experimental group and control group had a significant difference after the experiment. It is found that there were significant difference on vocabulary memory between control and experimental group. Further , word which consisted only one syllable were easier to memorize than words with two or three syllables. Word that had similar sounds in English and Indonesian were easier to memorize as well. Beside, the characteristics of the lighty music facilitated easier memorization. The subjects responded enthusiastically to the music education training.
