There are profound changes taking place in the world that relate to the Information Age. Unlike the changes that took place following World War II where there were shifts in consumer goods markets, “There structural changes are shifts to ‘infrastructure’ markets.” Dollinger notes there are three structural changes that are now modifying what formerly was the conventional way of doing business. The first, as noted above, is the market for computer-driven information and communications technology. The second is in meeting the emerging, and perhaps pressing need, to address environmental issues in the supply of processes and technology to clean up the globe.
