The first principle for educational leaders is “authenticity.” The second principle is
balance – balance between the ethics of justice and the ethics of care. Too often educational
leaders align themselves with one to the exclusion of the other when what is needed is a balance.
More often than not this focus on one rather than the other is an unconscious decision; therefore,
the educational leader must make a conscious choice acting with volition to find the balance.
