Combating HIV/AIDS. The underlying principle to
combating HIV/AIDS and counteracting stigmatization
of HIV/AIDS is to normalize the disease.
HIV/AIDS is combated by prevention, early diagnosis,
treatment, and support to people infected
with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Combating HIV/
AIDS is furthermore promoted by protection
against infection as well as against the devastating
effects of being affected by HIV/AIDS. This can
only be done when both children and duty bearers
are informed and knowledgeable about the nature,
spread, and impact of the disease.
