I was admitted to hospital. Then it was considered that visits by parents just upset children. So parents and family could only visit for one hour a week, on a Sunday afternoon.
A special padded frame was made for me. It was the shape of an upside down letter Y. My head was at the top and my legs were splayed apart. My legs were bandaged to the frame so they could not move. A bar came across the frame at my stomach and at my chest preventing any movement. The only things I could move were my arms and my head.
