Let’s move to the Devonian Period, the next period on the Time Line of Life. During this time, life began to move out of the water onto land. (point to the Devonian Period on the Timeline)
While plants were moving onto land, another animal was created in the water. This new type of animal was the beginning of animals with backbones; it had a hard rod inside its body. It was the development of the first fish on earth. These fish were huge and had hard plated skin for protection, much different from the fish we know today.
