The first thing we need to talk about is the need for meditation practice, and
why one is doing it. We start off with the fundamental basis of Buddhism,
which is that we all have dukkha, discontent. And we’re trying to cure it.
When we try to cure dukkha, we use the methods of cause and effect. We
always try to find those causes, those things to do, which will get rid of the
dukkha. Dukkha can be anything from little irritations up to big suffering.
