Movement to the dominant side begins with a quick shoulder-width step to the dominant side with the dominant (or trailing) foot immediately follows with a similar step to reacquire the original stance about 3 feet from the original spot. Movement to the support side is similar in concept. The support (or leading) foot steps out to the support side with a shoulder width step, and the dominant foot catches up, reestablishing the shooting stance to the left of the original spot. This same concept is useful for a quick step back. Using the rear foot, step back sharply and then catch up with the front foot.
