The temperature dependence of the rate of rotation of an SIA, Wn, from one 110 to another is shown in Fig. 3. The data are well described by the Arrhenius plot for points obtained using both the hyper-MD and the conventional MD simulations. The corresponding activation energy of the [110–011] rotation was calculated to be 0.40 eV, which is in good agreement with values obtained for previous MS calculations (0.43 eV, 0.41 eV). The good agreement for both the diffusivity and the rotation rate confirms the applicability of the hyper-MD to the SIA diffusion process.
