2.4.5.1. Front end process. The front end process is the mechanism
by which suggestions for new features or additional
functionality are considered for inclusion in the product portfolio.
The purpose of the process is to screen and filter out
proposals for features that do not meet business objectives. Requests
for new features undergo a technical review. During the
review the request is evaluated for technical completeness,
technical feasibility, environmental impact, and compatibility
with existing features. If the feature is found to have technical
merit, the feature and requirements are defined in sufficient detail
to enable development organizations to produce product
designs and specifications.
