Concerning the effect of personality differences on first impression, the results of the present study indicate that Agreeableness and Aggression significantly affect judgments of trustworthiness. With respect to Agreeableness, to the best of our knowledge, no study has
previously investigated the relation between Big Five dimensions and perceived trustworthiness. The observed positive association between Agreeableness and perceived trustworthiness
is consistent with the definition of this superordinate trait as an aggregation of lower-level traits
such as trust, straightforwardness, altruism, compliance, modesty, and tender-mindedness.
Likewise, in the Big Five model, low agreeableness is often characterized by skepticism about
other people's motives resulting in suspicion, unfriendliness, and, as confirmed by the present
study, the tendency to perceive unknown people as untrustworthy.
