What is Ayutthaya?
- The ancient city of Ayutthaya, or Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya
- The Thai capital for 417 years (1350 to 1767), is one of Thailand's major tourist attractions
- Many ancient ruins and art works can be seen in a city that was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong
- During the period of Ayutthaya being the Thai capital, 33 Kings of different dynasties ruled the kingdom
The First Fall
- The first fall was during the year 1564
- Prince Naresuan, the eldest son of King Thammaracha, was born in 1555
- King Bureng Noung took Prince naresuan as a hostage.
- In 1571, Prince Naresuan was allowed to return in exchange for one of his sisters who later became the wife of the Burmese King.
- King Naresuan then declared independence against Burma in 1584
The Second Fall
- After four centuries of rule, it was brought to and end during the Burmese-Siamese War during 1765-1767
- On April 7th 1767, Burma made it over the walls
