As the ultimate origin of the universe, Prakṛti manifests as three eternal factors or guṇas, which are continually interacting with each other, thereby producing the different phenomena of the universe.
These three guṇas can never be completely separated from one another. They are always in some combination together.
Because the guṇas are always in some combination with each other, Prakṛti remains cohesive, and therefore does not break apart into these components.
