So the way to escape saṃsāra is to cultivate a spirit of detachment by overcoming selfish desires. This approach is the same in all the Indian philosophical schools.
Thus to a large degree the problems of this world are due to humanity’s selfishness.
Overcoming this selfishness is an ethical imperative, which affects human conduct.
We overcome this selfishness through understanding ultimate truth (inconsequentiality of the self) through mental discipline and yogic meditation.
