In order to produce 1 million gallons of biodiesel in a year, we calculate a QS cost of $0.04/gallon
biodiesel or ~1% of Bioenergy Technologies Office’s projected cost of $5/gallon gasoline equivalent
(gge) by 2019. This assumes a QS cost of $1/kg, an algae production rate of 20 gm2 day1, 50%
lipid content, a biodiesel density of 880 kg/m3, and a QS application of 7.7 M which persists for
two weeks (26 doses per year)
