Glancing to the side to see Momoi sit up and begin to frantically flip through a book with one hand, the other holding a red flashlight, Akashi gave a languid smirk. They were on a soft slope, green grass tickling the back of their necks and where clothing didn’t cover. Momoi’s pink hair was constantly in his peripheral vision but Akashi didn’t mind.
The dark sky was alight with stars, sprinkled over black. Cicadas hummed in the background and crickets sang in a harmony. Distantly, he could hear frogs from the nearby lake and remembered the time Aomine threw a frog at the girl, causing her to scream in surprise and chase him around the school.
That was one way to get him to do the laps…

Reaching up, Akashi tugged at Momoi’s sleeve until she fell down again with a light ‘oof!’ Eyes were blinking and the book was taken from her hands and tossed aside.
Going star watching had been Momoi’s idea and Akashi hadn’t realized she meant it was just the two of them until she hid her face behind the book of constellations and stammered it. Akashi had to call Kise back and tell him to not come along.
"It doesn’t manner."
"No, I almost found it…!" she tried but he interrupted her.
"It’s fine," Akashi repeated. He turned to look at her, hands folded behind his head, and his smile had her falling silent and cheeks slightly pink.
