Polar zones are climate zones that lie between 66.5 north or south latitude and the nearest pole. These climate regions are always cold because the sun's rays strike these parts of our planet at very low angles. This, together with the reflection of much of the sun's energy by ice and snow, causes much of the heat to be lost to the atmosphere.
