The aim of this study was to investigate fipronil toxicity on laboratory grown F. candida. For this purpose, springtails were exposed to fipronil to evaluate not only the acute toxicity but also the impact on their life cycle (reproduction, egg hatching, growth and feeding). Fipronil bioaccumulation and metabolization were also considered in order to discuss the impact of metabolites on the F. candida lifespan. The phenylpyrazole effects observed on F. candida life cycle were discussed in terms of ecotoxicological soil impacts and of bioremediation potentiality of polluted soils.
