Instrument
The data collection instrument consists of two parts. The first part is
about the subjects’ personal information; the second part is the
Teacher Textbook Evaluation Scale, which elicits the criteria of a
textbook for English course. “Teacher Textbook Evaluation Scale”
was adapted to Turkish by the researcher. The original version is
“Teacher Textbook Evaluation Scale (TTES)”. This scale was
developed by Sung Kyun Kwan University in 2000. The version,
which was adapted into Turkish, consists of 30 items, covering 6dimensions. For the statements in the “Teacher Textbook
Evaluation Scale ” a Likert-type of equal-range and six sections was
used. The statements in the inventory have been labelled as;
"Completely Agree (5)", "Agree (4)", "Partly Agree (3)", "Disagree
(2)", "Completely Disagree (1)". In order to test the reliability of the
“Teacher Textbook Evaluation Scale, both as a whole and each of
the six dimensions, the Cronbach Alpha Coefficients were
calculated. As a whole the “ Teacher Textbook Evaluation Scale ”
has a high degree of reliability ("α-0.9478").
