beenWhat have you learn in mdg 201 classes?
It is a shocking fact that a large number of educated college students in Thailand have very poor English skills. The importance of English is the thing that should not be denied and ignored since it is the official language in several countries and internationally recognized as the language of science. Therefore, having a great skill will immediately open up various opportunities in the real world. I once think that I will not have a time to improve my English skills when I get into a secondary year of medical school. However, mdg 201 classes give me a big chance. There are three main things I have learned in this class which are listening skills, writing skills and reading skills.
Firstly, these classes mostly taught by the foreigners and Thai teachers who really fluent in English, consequently we were able to practice our listening skills. It also has time for us to ask the questions and the teachers are so kind. When we were curious, we could easily ask for the explanation. For instance, I did not understand about what one of the teachers said, I could ask him to speak slowly and explain me. Moreover, listening to the video is also a great idea. It makes us realize about our ability to listen to the native speakers that is it good enough or not. Theses all help improving our skills because in the real life we rarely have a chance to communicate in English and practice listening.
Furthermore, this lesson split students into small classes and let everyone improve their writing skills by writing a paragraph in each class. Then after finished, the teacher would correct the grammar for everyone leading me to know where I am wrong. For example, the thing that I have just known is how to use comma with while. I think that they are the same even if there are comma or not, but I misunderstand. They are different. Do not have comma mean during, whereas the comma using in front of while will use when the two sentences contrast each other. Teachers also let us edit each of our paragraphs more than one time to understand our own mistakes better. As a result, writing more often make me write quicker and be more confident.
Thirdly, Reading skills also are improved by reading the passages before writing the paragraph. In each class, there will be a passage relating to what we studied in that week for us to read. Besides knowing how to read properly, we can review our lessons, too. For instance, we studied about infection, so we had a passage of the difference between gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In addition, I have also learned new words from the passages and my friends because there is a discussion after read finished. If I did not understand which words, I can easily ask teacher or friends. I think I have learned from this a lot.
In conclusion, after I have learned in this class, without realizing it I became more skilled and be able to apply this knowledge into my life. This class teaches me various things whether it is how to listen to the native speakers, what should I do to improve my writing skills or the ways to be more effective in reading. In other words, education is absolutely beneficial for everyone and be a life-long process to all individuals. It is an important tool that would lead to succeed like the quote that says "The secret of success in life is to be ready for your opportunity when it comes."
