T.crispa isanherbaceousvinewhichextensivelygrowsin
tropicalandsubtropicalregionsofSoutheastAsia(Pathaketal.,
1995).Theoldstemsof T.crispa arefleshy,withprominent
blunttubercleswhereasyoungerstemsareslightlyfleshy,thin
epidermis,membranous,brownish,andglabrous.Theleavesare
large,heartshaped6–12cmlongand7–12cmwide.Petioles
areglabrousand5–15cmlong.Leafbladeisslightlyfleshy,
bothsurfacesglabrousandverydelicatewhendried(Figure1).
Theherbcontainstwoorthreesmallandyelloworgreenish
yellowcolorflowerswhicharefascicled.Maleinflorescences is
veryslender,5–10cmorlonger.Maleflowerhassixgreenand
glabroussepalsintwowhorls.Outerthreeareovate(1mm)while
innerthreeareobovate.Thereare3–6yellowcolorpetalsand
sixstamensequivalentinlengthtopetals.Femaleinflorescences
are2–6cmlong,mostlyoneflowerpernode.Femaleflowerhas
sepalsandpetalsasinmale.Thefruitis7–8mminlength.
Thewholeplantof T.crispa wasobtainedfromMarang,
KualaTerengganu,Malaysiaandavoucherspecimen(No.
UKMB40178)wasidentifiedanddepositedattheHerbarium
ofUniversitiKebangsaanMalaysia(UKM),Bangi,Malaysia.The
collectionoftheplantsampledidnotinvolveendangeredor
protectedspecies.
