Mass balances corresponding to three different raw materials
are presented in Table 2. The mass of the aqueous phase after
the first neutral washing (stream 11) was different for each raw
material. The higher the acid value of the raw material, the higher
the amount of this stream since as the acidity increased, more
soaps were generated. These soaps were extracted by the water
during the neutral washing. No separation problems or emulsions
formation were detected in any of these samples.
