Although there has been previous research on
African-Americans, victims and co-victims of violence,
and children and violence, very few studies have
focused on the problems of African-American youth
with violence and co-victimization. We have presented
the results of a recent survey of elementary and high
school children from several Chicago public schools
and discussed the implications of our results. Recognizing
the high rates of co-victimization in AfricanAmerican
youth, we developed three recommendations
by combining the results of our study with the research
of previous authors.
