In Thailand, three examples of Buddhist reform, supported by urbanization and new money, are Dhammakaya and Santi Asoke.
The Dhammakaya movement is rapidly gaining popularity among the newly affluent in Thailand. It maintains a focus on meditation, and now includes some Mahayana or Tibetan-like innovations, such as the meditator’s visualization of a crystal at the center of the body (reminiscent of tantra).
