Whilst it is important to check the quantity of incoming materials, it is vital to also check the incoming quality. All items must be appropriately packaged, packaging must be free from rips/tears/dents/rust etc., items should be free from foreign bodies (physical/chemical), items must come from approved suppliers, items must be appropriately labeled with a ‘Best Before’ or ‘Use By’ date on them as well as, information regarding storage conditions (where appropriate). All items that do not meet the above mentioned criteria must be rejected and returned to the supplier for corrective action. Records of rejected items must be kept.
