Several carbamate and thiocarbamate glycosides have
been isolated from its leaves. Ethanolic extract of drumstick
leaves have been reported to contain saponin (5%) and
phythate (3.1%) and its leaves are also a good source of
proteins. Ethanolic extract of the leaves have been reported
for its high antioxidant activity in both linoleic acid and
peroxidation system and have been found to contain
high poly unsaturated fatty acids oil lipid peroxidation
contents[11]. Leaves (in every 100 g) are rich in minerals such
as Ca (440 mg), P (70 mg), Mg (42 mg), K (259 mg), S (137 mg)
and C l ( 43 mg ) . M oreover, vitamins such as V itamin C
( 200 mg ) and total carotene ( 42 000 毺 g ) have also been
