accident this afternoon involving a commuter bus that ended up straddling a concrete median shut down a section of Route 3 in Clifton for several hours, injured 10 passengers and created traffic delays on several other roadways in the area, officials said.
The bus, operated by DeCampBus Lines of Montclair, was in the right lane when it was apparently cut off by a van that tried to exit Route 3 East around Passaic Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m., Clifton police Sgt. Robert Bracken said.
That caused the bus to "overcompensate," and it spun before striking the median, he said.
"It was no fault of the bus driver," Bracken said, adding that the accident remains under investigation.
