3.3.1. Indicators of bacterial stability
Bacterial stabilisation was studied using three different indicators. The
first indicator was the total bacterial biomass, which stabilised after
c.a. 400 days (Fig. 6b). At that time, progressive increase inmethanogenic
bacteria (XAMB) biomass was compensated with an equivalent decrease
of sulphate reducing bacteria (XASRB) biomass, while the total biomass
remained almost constant.
The second indicator of stability was the stabilisation of the effluent
