For the quantitative measurement, the Compton scattering matrix correction was employed for
correcting density and thickness in the determination of Ti, Cr
and Zr in polyethylene samples and V in elastomer. This
correction was unsuitable for Mg. The use of Al as internal
standard would be an alternative, but Al-based compounds
are usually employed as cocatalyst in the polymerization
process, and Al residues were already reported in polymers
[7,10]. Therefore, the calibration curve for Mg did not
reproduce satisfactory results.
