Our experiments showed very clearly that HPLC is an
appropriate, somehow simple, sensitive, precise and ac-
curate method for the determination of limonin content in
citrus juice, particularly reconstituted orange juice.
Moreover, we realised that the reconstituted OJC samples
can be injected into the column with only simple filtration
(passing through a nylon filter in order to remove large
and external particles) without extraction. It was also
found that the spectrophotometric method, owing to its
simplicity, easiness, feasibility, accessibility, reasonable
precision and accuracy as well as sensitivity, could be
used in citrus juice plants and basic quality control lab-
oratories. For the first time, we have also reported that the
local oranges which were harvested from the west
Mazandaran orchards were highly acidic and bitter.
