2. Endomembrane system
Endomembrane system fills the cell, dividing it into compartments, channeling the passage of molecules through the interior of the cell, and providing surfaces for the synthesis of lipids and some proteins.
The organelles of the endomembrane system are as
follows:
2.1. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER): series of saccules
(flattened) and tubules
1.1 Rough ER: ribosomes are present
1.2 Smooth ER: ribosomes are not present
2.2. Golgi apparatus: stack of flattened and curved saccules
2.3. Vesicles: membranous sacs
- Lysosomes: specialized vesicles
