Now, these campaigns where not tested all at once. I would do 1 see it fail then do the other, see it fail and keep trying different things.
The Poland campaign was actually profitable for a while, overall stats right now its giving me a profit of $40. Only thing is my AM told me they are running a really big internal campaign in Poland so I will not be getting any volume. So what I did was, followed Ryan's advice. I went in and looked at the OS stats and saw that I had a EPC of .15 for Symbian OS. I went back into my source and created a new campaign with .15 cpc targeting only that OS and uploaded 10 different ads and let it go. Sadly I still did not receive any traffic. So Im pretty much done with Poland.
It was very stressful getting A LOT of clicks and basically no conversions for EVERY campaign I tried. I literally went crazy and couldn't figure out whats was wrong, I talked to my AM and he as well could not figure what was going on. Note that some of these countries he would tell me they are running internal and having good ROI's so he would tell me to run in the same country. After about 4-5 days looking at everything I could possibly do I finally figured it out. I was pissed off at myself since it shouldve been the first thing i should've looked at, after a few minutes of cursing myself out I calmed down. I went back and looked at the BANNERS, (I use a custom token to track ALL banners/creatives) I saw that my full screen (320x250 - 300x250 - 320x50 - 300x50 ext) where only getting about 1/5 of the overall clicks. Other banners such as ( 150x20 - 120x20 - 100x20 ect) Where getting most of the clicks. I immediately took out all of those (Reason they where there in the first place was because I send my campaign with all creatives in a .zip file to my AM, he then sends it to the op team and they resize and upload everything). After that my volume dropped a lot. As you can see I was getting pretty decent cpc rates too
Me and my AM have a 12 hour time zone difference so I basically have to stay up until 5-6 in the morning everyday to talk to them and get things going. So now I have to wait until Sunday to talk to him and see if we can get something else going, only reason I haven't moved sources yet is because of my AM. The relationship is really good but at the end of the day business is business
Now that being said I spent all Thursday emailing other traffic sources and connecting to people on linked in. When I was getting ready to go to sleep Mr Bossman Ruck released Mobimanifesto V2! Haha went straight to the kitchen and made myself another cup of coffee and went right back at it!
So today I got in touch with a few traffic sources, nothing promising. I did indeed find one that offered some decent rates. The AM didn't seem like she knew much about the business. She was also very slow at responding and took forever to give me answers which really pissed me off. Anywho I went live with 2 campaigns with them to test throughout the weekend. I set a daily budget at $50 for each and these are the results so far:
