if 50% or
more of the pigs in the crossbreed were classified based on the
studied trait in the same group.The four studied crosses were quite similar having, however, some
own typical characteristics. Typical characteristics for FL were light
loin colour (58.8% of the pigs), low number of muscle fibres in loin
(56.3%) and long loin (51.4%). Low redness value in the loin (60%)
and small cross-sectional area of muscle fibres (57.1%) were typical
for NL. NDL could be characterised as having low lean content in carcass
(65.6%), low percentage of the loin in the carcass (61.3%), low
water to protein ratio (55.9) and small loin cross-sectional area
(57.6%).
