Some participants reported that physical activity was
helping them to move on in life and identified choosing to
exercise was their choice and that made them feel empowered.
Participating in physical activity was seen as being
important in improving physical health, assisting in weight
reduction and becoming physically fit. In asking participants
what physical activity meant to them, a number of
participants associated the benefits of physical activity with
physical health and weight loss. One participant had been
overweight and inactive and identified the importance of
being part of a physical activity programme
