found in the concerns for pesticide residues and microbial
contamination with age (p < 0.05). In general, consumers' concerns
have increased with the increase of age. Young people were less
concerned about vegetable safety problems than the older. There
were significant differences of the concerns for pesticide residues,
heavy metal contamination, microbial and packaging contamination
with incomes (p < 0.05). The most concern was found in the
relatively high income group “10,001e20,000 RMB”. No significant
difference of consumers' concerns was found in different education
groups. Respondents who buy vegetables frequently showed a
significantly higher concern on heavy metal contamination, microbial
and packaging contamination than the ones who have never
done vegetable purchase (p < 0.05, Table 9).
