In recent years, ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) has
become an effective method for edible oils and fats from natural
product extraction . UAE is an inexpensive, simpleand efficient alternative to conventional extraction techniques. The
mechanism of UAE is attributed to mechanical and cavitation efficacies
which can result in disruption of cell wall, particle size
reduction, and enhanced mass transfer across cell membrane.
To our knowledge, there are no published reports regarding the
ultrasound-assisted aqueous extraction of rice bran oil (RBO) from
rice. The purpose of the current work was to study the ultrasoundassisted
aqueous extraction of RBO from rice bran available in Iran
was studied. Key factors affecting ultrasound-assisted aqueous
extraction of rice bran oil was identified. Ultrasound-assisted aqueous
extraction of rice bran oil was compared with the hexane
extraction. This result implied that the yield of rice bran oil was
significantly influenced by ultrasound.
