Airline Emirates is launching a huge recruitment drive in a move that underlines the carrier’s growing challenge to established rivals.
The Dubai-based airline and dnata, its ground handling agent, plan to hire 11,000 people this year, increasing the group’s total number of employees by 6pc.
Emirates wants to recruit 450 pilots to fly its rapidly expanding fleet of aircraft, along with cabin crew to serve on them.
It is also on the lookout for workers in support functions including engineering, flight operations, airport services and corporate roles.
The carrier currently has more than 230 jets in its fleet and more than 100 on order, including Airbus' giant A380 “superjumbo” and Boeing’s latest versions of its 777 jet.
