that the genes of these pathways which were up-regulated during ripening (MDHAR3, APX1, APX2 and APX4) were substantially repressed by shading at the end of the ripening process, with a three–four fold reduction in the accumulation of the corresponding mRNAs. On the other hand, genes that were down-regulated during ripening (DHAR1 and AO) were not affected by light (Fig. 3C).
